My twin sister, Carol Lyden Foulkes, and I, Patricia Lyden Bingham, knew John when he was a young Cameronian officer in Nairobi, Kenya. My father, Col. John Lyden, was especially fond of John who often visited our home for long chats with him before taking one of the Lyden twins to dinner. He was a much loved family favourite!
